Guardian Dentistry Partner’s Give Back Day Huge Success for Virginia Region

Free dental care provided to 147 uninsured patients

MIAMI – September 21, 2022 –    Guardian Dentistry Partners’ (GDP) Virginia region held their annual Dentistry Give Back event on Saturday, September 17 at Mt. Vernon Center for Dentistry in Alexandria, Virginia. The purpose was to provide free dental care to those who are uninsured and would otherwise be unable to get treatment.

 The clinical team was able to treat 147 patients. Within that group, there were 69 hygiene patients, 38 patients who received a filling, and 38 patients who had extractions. Some patients had multiple treatments done, and there were even full mouth reconstructions. 

Among the volunteers at the event were 14 doctors – including 8 Legacy Doctors and 5 JV doctors, 12 assistants, 11 hygienists, and several Guardian Support Team members. The Guardian Dentistry Virginia doctor partners included Dr. Hisham Barakat, Dr. Sanae Berrada, Dr. Uzma Ansari, Dr. Zeyad Mady, Dr. Neil Chariopotra, Dr. Michael Rogers, Dr. Ibrahim Masoud. 

“The energy was palpable, you can see the team hugging patients and giving high fives all along the hallways,” recalls Dr. Barakat. “”This event is a constant reminder of why we went into the profession, helping those in need and giving back to our community is such a rewarding feeling.” 

The event has gained recognition in the community since its inception in 2011. Even some local figures came out to visit and speak. 

Chairman Jeff McKay, County of Supervisors for Fairfax County, presented a Proclamation to Guardian Dentistry Virginia. “What an opportunity for a lot of people with their heart in the 

right place to give back to our community and improve the lives and health of so many people in Fairfax County,” McKay said. “I am eternally grateful to all these folks for doing this.” 

“The lives that we changed were so AMAZING. I saw patients shedding actual tears,” said Michelle Landreth, Regional Operations Manager at Guardian. “When I asked one man if everything was alright, he said, ‘No, No, No. These are happy tears, as I do not know when I would have ever been able to afford to get my tooth pulled out.’ This was truly heartwarming.” 

Smiles were all around. The impact of the event was felt by all who participated, and they are looking forward to holding another Free Dental Day next year.
